The RETURN of the...

COLD SORE!!! Yuck! I hate cold sores. Man, what a way to ruin someone’s day…well more like week, cause it takes that frickin’ long for it to go away. This one I got is huge, and when I say “huge” I am referring to the kind that takes up three quarters of your lip, there’s no hiding it, it is literally impossible. Everyone notices, people don’t even have to do a double take they know it’s there from the first look… even if someone isn’t looking directly at me, this nasty thing will catch their eye and then complete focus will be on my mouth as they think to themselves…man, I am SO glad I’m not her.

To me, cold sores are worse than pimples. Not everyone gets cold sores, just us lucky few. This one I have must have been festering for the past three years, which was when his brother was on my lip (not Thomas’s…my cold sore’s, you sicko). And boy he was a bad one, he appeared the day before our wedding…nice, it brings back such fond memories. So, I guess this baby thought I was due and popped on out. Now he’s here and there’s no turning back.

Cold sores, what do you do? No, seriously, what do you do?! This Campho-Phenique stuff does not seem to be working fast enough. If you have any suggestions on how to get rid of these nasty little buggers, please share!

Don't worry. I'll grow into it!

We put Vivianne’s high chair together this weekend. She’s not eating solids yet, but soon we hope to get her started on cereal. Hopefully she’ll grow a bit more in the meantime so the high chair doesn’t swallow her up:)

PS: She rolled onto her tummy by herself for the first time today…she was on it for all of maybe 5 seconds before she rolled back onto her back. She’s not a fan of being on that belly of hers. Another thing she has recently started doing is what we call her “fake laugh”. She will make this really loud obnoxious laughing sound and smile and wait for you to laugh at her. It’s pretty funny.

Vivianne's getting some teeth!

I tried to get her to cooperate for me to show you her teeth, but she wasn’t having that! She’s getting two teeth, the top incisors (think that’s the name). Right now they are just white spots underneath her gums, but I’m thinking they are going to poke through soon as she has become a chewing maniac as you will see in the video!

Tom's New Toy...

Some of you may have heard (somehow or another) that I bought a motorcycle, but very few of you have had the ‘privilege’ (that’s a joke) of seeing it. Considering I live multiple states away from the majority of you, a picture will have to do (if you click the picture…there are more in the set titled ’Thomas’s Bike’ on our Flickr account):

IMG_3212.JPG

For those interested…here are a few details:

  • It’s a 2007 Harley Davidson, Sportster 1200 Custom (with Vance & Hines ‘Short Shots’ pipes ;-))
  • Yes, I wear a helmet all the time (1/2 helmet, gloves, and a coat with body armor…)
  • I took a motorcycle driving safety course before driving it. Still have lots to learn (you never know it all)…but the course helped out a lot
  • I have driven it to work every day but one (two days ago) since I got my license. I don’t go on the ‘fast roads’ (interstate/major highways). I tend to stick to side roads that have a little less traffic and are a little slower speed for now. I’ve been on some busy roads, but not on the way to/from work and never during rush hour(s).
  • I went on a ride last weekend up into Wisconsin. I think I’ve seen every county road that state has to offer in the southern/southeastern quarter or so ;-). I put on about 265 miles that day alone
  • I have put about 800 miles on the it so far…in about 2.5 weeks or so (3 on Monday)
  • The most I’ve spent on gas when filling up has been about $11. I get somewhere between 40 & 50 mpg

Let me know what you think.

The Horse Races

The company Thomas works for had a group/family outting yesterday at the horse track. We had never been to the horse races before so it was quite the experience. It was SO much fun. Everyone was given $20.00 to bet with. We started off winning…at one time we were up $3.70! But on the last race we ended up betting it all on Tinsel Time (cause I liked the name) and well, we…lost it all:-)

Here is a picture of Vivianne with her take-home prize (a BIG thanks to Laurel!):

Vivianne eats cereal for the first time

We tried giving Vivianne cereal for the first time this past Friday. I was so excited because a lot of my friends had said that it was so much fun when your baby starts eating solid food. So I’m pumped! Vivianne on the other hand is pretty much the furthest thing from pumped. I had just set her down in her high chair and the fussing began. Now, I had never made rice cereal before, but thought even I couldn’t screw this one up. All you do is add milk or water and mix it up. Simple. Well, I had heard that you should make it really creamy the first time around…basically more liquid that solid, just enough so that your baby gets used to eating off of a spoon. So, that’s what I did (looking back on this gives me the giggles). The cereal was made and we were ready. I told Thomas to get the camera. This was going to be a fun happy moment. As you can tell from the pictures below it was not. She did not like it one bit. The cereal looked nasty, it was watery with a few flakes scattered throughout, somewhat like the consistency of spoiled milk. Heck, I would have spit the crap out too. So that “first” in her life was short lived.

However, today, my rice cereal making skills drastically improved. It actually looked edible and it must have been as she ate it like a champ!

I don't know about this stuff... My first bite of cereal...yucky!
