Parenting...
If only we could have had a dime for every time we heard “having a baby changes everything…”
I can’t help but reflect on that cliche now as we are nearing the four week point as parents. There have been many changes that have come along with being “mom” and “dad”…
- the amount of sleep we get is dependent on a 7.5 lb’er
- nightly entertainment involves feeding, burping, and changing diapers and staring at the 7.5 lb’er
- so much effort and thought is put into every decision
On the contrary…
- While no one likes to be jolted out of a deep sleep in the middle of the night, there is something to be said for getting the chance to cuddle with a newborn in the wee hours
- We can’t really remember what we did for nightly entertainment before Vivianne was born…obviously it doesn’t compare to what we do now…well…maybe not the butt wiping thing but…you get the point :-)
- The good thing is that 7.5 lb’er has stollen our hearts and is the new love of our life! So all the effort and thought put into each decision is well worth it!
Things have been going really well. We have been blessed with a really good baby, or so we think anyway, don’t really have any other babies to compare her to…yet! Ha! We are about to set out on our first road trip. Tomorrow we are heading to Minneapolis to visit family. We are driving there (6.5 hours) which is another adjustment for us, no more airplanes in the foreseeable future…I guess parenting is all about sacrafices, right? Kidding!!!
At the end of the day, while we still reminisce about our lives before our lil’ sweet pea, we now can’t imagine our lives without her!
The Swaddle Blanket
We started using this swaddle blanket on Vivi. She seems to sleep longer when she is in it (yippee). We think she looks like a little gloworm/torpedo in it!

Grandma's Grand Babies
Here is a video clip of Grandma Kersten holding Vivianne and cousin Sidney. Vivianne’s on the left (pink) and Sidney’s on the right (green). You may have to turn your sound up to hear as it is pretty quiet.
Sidney's Baptism
On Sunday, our niece Sidney was baptized. We were honored to be her godparents! Isn’t she pretty!!!

Priceless Moment
Last night while I was rocking Vivianne to sleep, she laughed! She had just dozed off and she smiled and opened her mouth and laughed for about 3 seconds right from the belly. It was so cute. I wish I could have caught it on video because I know no one will believe this happened, but I swear to you it did. I think she must have realized how tired I was and decided to make my day by giving me a little giggle. What she doesn’t understand is that I would stay awake forever to hear her laugh again…I know sappy, sappy love stuff…I will stop now :-)
