The Countdown has Begun...
We went into the hospital last night around 9:30 PM and the doctors had us stay overnight. Things are progressing today and we expect to see the little one sometime this afternoon or evening. I will let Jenny have the honors of posting whatever details she desires when the time is right.
For now, Here is a video of the room we are in…mostly for the family members that have no way of visiting while we are in here. Check back…we will post (appropriate ;-)) pictures when the little one arrives. I will do my best to call or email everyone we have contact information for…
Please keep Jenny in your thoughts & prayers.
It's a.....
April 7th, 2007 at 7:30PM Vivianne Elizabeth Kersten was born. She weighed 7lbs 2oz and is 20" long. The delivery went extremely well…less than one hour of ‘pushing’ for Jenny.
More posts and pictures to come shortly…here’s the first:
Baby Update
Things are going very well. Her APGAR score was as high as it could be and the pediatrician said she is doing great.
Mom is also doing very well. We are both a little more rested now and the reality of it all is just starting to kick in. Jenny & the baby will be able to leave the hospital tomorrow (Monday, April 9th)…which will drive ‘reality’ home very quick, I expect.
One of the questions so far was the hair color. Being a man…I’d call it ‘light-brown’. Assuming my description probably won’t suffice for anyone with a color-vocabulary larger than the colors of the rainbow…hopefully this helps:
Note: My color vocabulary is actually three times that number because I can prefix any of them with the words ‘light’ or ‘dark’…but this is beside the point ;-)

I uploaded a few other pictures too. If you’d like to see them click here
Let us know if you have any more questions!
She's a Daddy's Girl
Here are a couple of pictures of the proud papa!

(She loves to be held by her dad)

(This is the celebratory dinner the hospital provides for new parents…Thomas had the lobster tail and I had the chicken florentine…plus we had a glass of wine…and it was delicious:-)
Vivianne's Easter Gifts...
Joe & Marney brought Vivianne her very first Easter basket when they came to visit us in the hospital. They are having a little girl very soon, so Vivianne will have a friend anyday now :-)
The gorgeous flower bouquet is from Sandi (Jenny’s boss). They really brightened us up!

4 Days Old...
Pappy J. & Granny M. left today to go back home to ND. We will miss them!

Vivianne had her first visit to the pediatrician today. She is doing really well, so we are very happy.
Some things we have learned about Vivianne so far:
- She hates getting her diaper changed
- She doesn’t like being naked or getting washed
- She likes to play this game where the second you turn the lights off, she wakes up…she is really good at it:-)
- She sleeps ALOT!
- She loves to be held and we love holding her!!!
Everything is going great (even the sleepless nights…she’s just so darn lovable).
Here’s a few pics of her and dad!

How Could Something So Small...
How could something so small poop so much? Vivianne pooped through multiple diapers and two outfits today…one is stained for life! To be on the safe side we have her in her diaper and blanket for the time being…just waiting for the next explosion:-)

The Cousins Meet
Thomas’s brother, John, ( and his family) surprised us on Thursday by driving down from Minneapolis for a visit. It was so good to see them and meet our niece Sidney for the first time. The babies hung out…they didn’t do a whole lot of talking, but they seemed to get along pretty well:-)

Bath Time
We gave Vivianne a sponge bath today…she did ok, got the shivers, so afterwards we snuggled her up in her bath robe:-)
Here are a few pics:

Funny Girl
Vivianne loves to move her arms around when she’s asleep- she loves the doing the touchdown motion…sometimes she will smile in her sleep too- I was lucky enough to take this photo when she was!

Tummy Time...
We were told infants are supposed to practice thier “tummy time” a few times a day to help them strengthen their muscles and learn to hold thier head up…she usually does better than this…
Will & Ann
Our good friends, Will & Ann, stopped by for a visit this afternoon. They are making their way east to their home town of Rochester, Vermont. They were so excited to see and meet Vivianne. We met them when we lived in Tucson and have remained close ever since. We had a great time catching up with them!

First Stroller Ride
The weather was finally nice today so we took Vivianne on her first stroller ride! She slept nearly the entire time. She loves her stroller! We realized she could have done without the blanket and probably the coat as well…she was a little sweaty when we got home :-(

Vivi's 2 Week Check Up
Vivianne had her two week check up this afternoon. She weighed in at 6 pounds 15 ounces, just three ounces shy of her birth weight. The doctor said she was doing well and is very alert. He would like to see her gain a full pound by her first month check up! So she’s got some eatin’ to do :- )

Buddies
Our friends, Joe & Marney, had a baby girl last Tuesday. They came over for a visit yesterday and we got to see baby Jayden! She is precious. Now, Vivianne has a friend! They played so hard (wink wink) that Vivianne got a little tired by the time the camera came out… ;)

Vivianne's First Day in Church
Today we took Vivianne to church and she did really well. She didn’t cry once. We sat in the back so we could quickly escape if she decided to loosen up her lungs:)
Here’s a picture of her in her little dress…just before we were going to take a picture of her in it, she spit up! While it was air drying she dozed off AGAIN! (We think she’s growing by the minute)

Vivianne's Hospital Photo
This is the photograph taken at the hospital where she was born. She was three days old :-) She sure has grown since then! The time is flying by…

3 Weeks Old Today
Mama’s little girl is three weeks old today. We took her for a stroller ride and she loved it as always. It is in the 70’s today.
