Baby Shower

Last weekend, Thomas’s aunt, Mary, hosted a joint baby shower for Thomas’s sister-in-law, Kris, and me in Minneapolis (we are due within 9 days of each one another). It was so much fun! Baby Kersten got spoiled again. He or she is pretty darn lucky :-)

We spent Sunday night putting together the stroller and last night we tackled the pack-n-play (portable crib)…we hope there aren’t too many more complicated contraptions that we have to assemble…after several attempts at trying to figure things out on our own…we learned real fast that the directions were our friend!

Here are a few pictures.

Rock-n-Roll Marathon

Hey everyone…I am running in the Rock-n-Roll Marathon (26.2 miles) on June 3rd as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training! Ok, time to get serious, I’m really not…but my good friend Trish IS and she is hoping to raise funds to help stop cancer from taking over more lives and at the same time get in kick butt shape:-) Click here for more information or to make a donation! Go Trish!

Childbirth Preparation...

This weekend Thomas and I had our childbirth preparation class. It was held right at the Women’s Health Center at the hospital that we will be delivering at, so we got a nice little tour of the place. Now, I don’t frequent hospitals, but I have been in a few in my day, and the Lake Forest Hospital is hands down the nicest facility I have ever set foot in! I think it might be nicer than our home. The rooms are unbelievable!!! I told Thomas I probably won’t want to leave after the baby is born :-) One cool little feature is every room has a little red button, and after the birth of the baby, the “coaches”/dads get to push it and it plays the Brahms Lullaby throughout the entire hopital, so everyone knows a baby was born! That’s just one of many little details that blew me away. Anywho…the actual class was awesome. It was very informative and we learned a ton of stuff. Up until now, I didn’t really know what to expect as far as the actual labor process goes, but after watching a few videos of live births, I definitely have a CLEAR visual imbedded into my brain…that no matter how much I try to wish it away, it just remains there, almost haunting me if you will…

Two words—“PAIN MEDICATION” keep flashing through my head.
