The New Cars & Blondie Road Rage Tour 2006

Last night Jeff, Melissa, Thomas and I had lawn tickets to the New Cars & Blondie concert at Ravinia Park. Jeff brought some home made Sangria…it was a good time. Here are some pictures.

Amazing Ice Sculpture

This is a pretty cool ice sculpture of an angel leaning on a fire fighter…a tribute to the emergency workers of NYC after 9-11.

Many of you may have seen this in an email forward…but I thought it was worth viewing again anyway.

Lake Forest Dog Day

Today was “Dog Day” in Lake Forest. Even though we don’t have a dog…we decided to go check it out anyway.

It was possibly one of the coolest things ever. Basically its a day to celebrate dogs. Anyone can bring their dog. There are fun games for the dogs and owners to participate in, for example: dance with your dog, best tricks, best in show, and the 50 yard dash to see whose dog is the fastest…that was the most fun to watch. There was an MC that was dressed in circus attire that MC’d the entire event. All the dogs and children really got into it. There were prizes for all the winners. At the end a bag piper, followed by the mayor and the winner of “best in show” led the doggy parade down to Market Square.

It was so cute! I was wishing I had a video camera, instead of my digital to really capture the enthusiasm and excitement of the kids, but the still shots will have to do for now. Enjoy these pics!

Need a Laugh?

Today work was well…slow…so I had ample time to surf the net. I stumbled upon a blog that possibly could be written by the world’s funniest man ever. If you need a good chuckle, I encourage you to check it out…beware though, it is so addicting, you could actullay find yourself spending hours there!

Bad Carrot

Have you ever had a bad carrot? One that looks perfectly fine from the outside but the middle tastes…funny? I just had one. It left me with a nasty after taste…YUCK!

Lucky Me...

I am pretty stoked to get to go to RailsConf this week. There were 400 initial tickets that sold out in about a day. They extended another 150 tickets which also immediately sold out. I am also going to Guidebook, which is the first day of the conference and is essentially some great training on both Ruby and Rails from some of the most respected people in the field.

The best part about all of it is that it is about 35 minutes from where I live and my employer agreed to pay for it.

Pretty sweet…
