Happy New Year everyone! We hope you all have fond memories of ringing in the New Year…I know we certainly do…right, Jess? We played a few games of cards, had a few drinks..some of us had a few more than others..and then capped off the evening listening to the renound Jess Grosgebauer sing us a rendition of “These Are a Few of My Favorite Things” live, complete with home-made microphone (a.k.a. wine cork). For those of you interested in sharing this eye-opening, jaw-dropping moment with us, we do ask that you send us a nominal donation in exchange for the secret video we shot of her performance.
Hope 2006 brings you good health, good times and good fortune.
Last Weekend
Dean, JoAnne, Thomas and I spent the day at the Museum of Science and Industry where Dean experienced his first Omnimax show. There is a special exhibit called “Christmas Around the World” where basically they have decorated Christmas trees for the different countries—we took a picture of JoAnne in front of the Canada tree, she is our little Canadian native, ahe :-)
Afterwards we all went for a drink at the Signature Lounge (96th floor) in the John Hancock Center in Chicago. It was absolutely breathtaking.

The Masopusts and Dean
Dean’s little buddy all grown up…with a little buddy of his own now :-)
The Bathroom From Hell...
When we moved in, our plan was just to replace the towel rack…(Ha, yeah..) So we replaced it…and then came the sink…which led to the vanity… followed by the toliet…the flooring was next…and last but not least the shower head… oh yeah almost forgot about the paint color. Those of you who are on my “venting list-serve” are well aware that we painted it 3 different colors, patched the drywall and sanded each time as well until finally we decided on the color, “Rejuvenate”…we thought it sounded like a perfect name for the process BOTH we and it underwent. We only had a few minor problems…learned a lot though—things like turning the both the hot and cold water off before you begin taking the sink apart, learned it’s not a good idea to paint over the top of wallpaper glue and the importance of a wax ring. With all of our newly gained knowledge we are thinking about tackling the master bathroom…we agreed our first step would be to—hire a professional :- )
Here are a few pictures.
Free Icons....
Here is a set of about 700 free icons. Most of you don’t give a rat’s @$$ about these…but I found them about 3 weeks ago was interested in them for a project I am working on and was not able to find the link for about 30 minutes…this post is meant to prevent the same waste of time 3 weeks from now….
Cool Videos...
These are a couple videos I found on a site that are pretty cool…or funny (sorry about the pixelation…that’s Google Videos for now):
If you are interested in seeing more, I got all of these from here
Here Comes the Snow...
We were beginning to wonder if winter was over…last Saturday the high was 50 degrees…it was sunny…we went for a walk down to the lake that afternoon… I mean we actually saw green grass…and it was January! It was beautiful outside.
Exactly one week later, we wake up to this!
Never underestimate Mother Nature…especially if you live in the Midwest!
We're Incorporated...
It’s official now, Thomas and 4 others started a company. I don’t really understand what they’ll be doing…so I won’t even try to explain it.
The obvious goal of course is to generate enough income that will enable them to quit their day jobs…but for now it’s something they will do in their spare time.
I asked Thomas, if the company does REALLY well…“Could I be the one to cut the ribbon at the NYSE if they go public?” He laughed…not sure if that was a positive sign or not— I think I will still run it by the others in the interim, just in case… :-)
Thomas's Early Valentines Day Present
I gave Thomas his Valentines Day present last night…a little early I know, but he kept talking about buying one for himself, so I was afraid he would. It’s a PSP (for those of you who know as little as I know about electronics…basically it’s a game system that’s portable).
I think he likes it…he hasn’t moved in a while…
