What Do You Want For Christmas?
Thomas and I are hoping Santa is good to us this year…
Here’s a link to what’s on our wishlist:-) What’s on yours?
Big Nerd Ranch, RoR
I am in Atlanta taking a class on the new ‘hip’ web framework called Ruby on Rails at a training facility called The Big Nerd Ranch. The place is pretty cool and the class is going well so far. I basically have a cabin with a jacuzzi tub to myself, which is pretty sweet.

New Phone Number
My new phone number is #847#997#4341…this is my cell. I have lost all of my phone numbers from the phone that disappeared on me…so please give me a call when you get a chance so I can get them stored on my new phone.
Pottery
Last weekend, Thomas and I stumbled upon a little shop called, “Wired and Fired” in the Virginia Highlands, Atlanta, Georgia. The shop had a variety of unglazed pottery pieces. You choose the piece you want and 4 colors to paint it with. Thomas chose a miniature turtle and I chose a Christmas bulb ornament. Then when you are done painting your piece, they fire it in the kiln for you and it’s yours to take home. They let you bring in your own beverages while you paint. So we went across the street and bought a bottle of wine…hoping it would get the creative juices flowing…I don’t think I had as much to drink as Thomas (a.k.a. Picasso, Jr.) did:-)
By looking at the pictures you can see which of us is more creative.
GoogleMaps Competition
Microsoft has released a serious competitor to Google Maps….here is a link to the site. Check out the scratchpad & if you look at some large cities, there is a “bird’s eye view” that is pretty cool.
Let me know what you think…
Speed up site
Today I am going to fix the speed of the site, hopefully….so when you come back…it should be as zippy as you could ever want…let me know if you see any improvements….
Who is this...
Let me know if you know who this is…
I’ll give you a hint…nobody. It’s actually an image that was generated by a computer. Pretty amazing….I imagine this level of detail will be what video games will have someday…
The Raging Beast...
Last week I brought my car into the shop. It had been making weird noises for quite some time and they had begun to grow increasing loud. The mechanic told me to make the sound go away, I needed to have some part replaced that had rusted out inside my exhaust. He then proceeded to tell me in would cost about $450.00…after regaining consciousness, I asked him if this was something that needed to be replaced in order for the car to run. He told me no, but that if I didn’t fix it, my car would fail the emissions test required by the state of IL. Failing the emissions test, results in the suspension of your driver’s license.
I switched to IL license plates in September and was told at that time, that the state would notify me within a 2 year time frame of when I would need to bring my car in to get tested. So being it was only December, I told the mechanic I did not want it fixed and that I would have to hope that when the state would notify me, that by then I would have a new car.
Low and behold, that SAME night I received the notice in the mail that I needed to bring my car and get it tested…this was so ironic that I swore I was being set up for some sick joke…unfortunately this was not the case. The notice stated I had until the end of December to get the test done.
So Saturday morning, Thomas and I went to the test site, said a little prayer and handed the keys over to the specialist. We watched like little kids through the glassed-in waiting area as they ran the tests, just cringing as they reved up the engine. Well, soon the test was complete and…………………………the festiva PASSED!!!
Not only did she pass, but she passed with flying colors-the lady said the numbers were way below what they needed to be, and the festiva was good to go until the next check in December of 2007. I said, “Bring it on!” and Thomas said, “Jenny, if we still have this car in 2007, we will have failed.”
So the fest and I are street legal now and still have $450 bucks in our pocket…oh but you can hear us coming from miles away that’s for sure!
The ol’ fest pulling through for us yet again…it will be a sad day when she dies for good.
Here is a picture of her…we let our eskimo friend take her for a cruise around the parking lot…
The Masopusts
Jan, Melissa and Baron were our dinner guests last evening. We always have such a great time with them.
