Registration Sucks…
Tired of being forced to register at sites to read the one article they have ever (and will ever) write that you are intersted in? Five pages of information, spam to your inbox, and wasted time…all just to read or look at something just ONCE.
Bugmenot is the answer to this problem. You go to the site…if it asks you for a login, you go to http://www.bugmenot.com and enter that URL in the textbox provided. It searches a database of submitted usernames and passwords and returns a (hopefully) working combination. I have tried it on a few sites & had great luck with it so far. This is a very cool little site & it has bookmarklets for both IE and Firefox browsers, which come in very handy.
If you don’t know what a ‘bookmarklet’ is, drag the “Firefox bookmarklet” (or IE, if you use that) to your “links” (“Favorites”, shortcut bar…whatever) and click it when you go to a site you want to use the bookmarklet “service” on (in this case that ‘service’ would be “Bugmenot”) and it will open a window and give you the necessary information…preventing you from having to go to Bugmenot’s site to look up the password (which would be just as much of a pain in the ass as registering, pretty much).
Hope you like it…let me know what you think…
Cool Photo Gallery
This is a very cool photo gallery. The animation when viewing photos is awesome.
The pictures aren’t too bad either…
Google Groups
Google Groups-Beta was recently release (today???). I stumbled across it today…
I’m thinking about utilizing it for private group discussions, but I’m not sure what the topic of discussion would be yet…we’ll see…
Screenless iPod?
Rumors are afloat on iPod updates coming down the pipe. Supposedly a screenless version’s specs have been released (view interpretations here).
Personally, I don’t think this is true, but who knows. Regardless, I am excited to see what Apple releases at MacWorld (end of January, 2005).
One Example of Why Firefox Rocks…
I was reading a review of a video camera tonight getting ready to sell my first-born for a moving-pictures device I won’t be able to justify and noticed the pages on this site were loading slow & the screen was slow to re-draw also (when scrolling down). Because I was entranced by the beautiful pictures of the camera I am about to waste my money on, I didn’t really care at the time…this is where the magic happened. Firefox popped up a window and said something to the effect of
“A script is running on this page that is causing it to load slow & may cause your computer to become unresponsive. Do you want to stop running this script?”
I, of course, clicked “Yes”…and the page immediately started re-drawing correctly & reacting as one would expect.
This was the first time I had ever seen this in Firefox (…or any other browser) and thought it was awesome…
If you haven’t tried Firefox yet…please do…you won’t regret it. You can download it here…
Ridiculous…
BBC has an article on a 22-year-old who bought a virtual island for $26,500. Yes….“virtual”…it is an island that exists in a game called “Project Entropia”.
Evidently the guy plans on making the money back from taxes & fees for hunting (and other things) and real estate sales to other users that want to build virtual homes…..on this virtual island…
“Holy shit….”
That’s about all I come up with for this one. I’m not sure if these people are the biggest idiots in the universe (both this one…and their virtual one)…or smart. Talk about easy real estate to manage, huh?
For the record…I’m leaning towards “the biggest idiots” choice mentioned above.

Find themselves beautifully equipped
